A staged exploration of Yoruba ceremonial performance at Ghana’s national theatre, combining Alaga presentation, praise poetry, music and matrimonial custom.
Farida let the ceremony explain itself from the inside. Rather than placing a narrator outside the rite, she gave the Alaga, who traditionally guides the families through a Yoruba wedding, the role of guiding the audience too. She placed Enu Bi Iyo’s oríkì at the turning points of the ceremony, so that praise poetry announced each stage as it began. An audience in Accra that had never seen a Yoruba wedding could follow its meaning without the rite stopping to be explained.
Led by Creative Director Farida Atanda, Red Cap Entertainment delivered comprehensive artistic vision, live show-calling, technical systems integration, and strict protocol governance from concept through on-site execution.
