For most audiences, Benin art means the bronzes made for the royal court centuries ago. Beyond the Bronze asked what that reputation leaves out. It showed painters, photographers, sculptors, digital artists and installation artists working in and from Edo today, still exploring identity, spirituality, community and status through new materials.
Farida produced and curated the exhibition. She brought artists working in very different media into one show and presented their work as a continuation of the bronze tradition rather than a break from it, so that living Edo artists were given the same standing as the historical work they descend from.
Led by Creative Director Farida Atanda, Red Cap Entertainment delivered comprehensive artistic vision, live show-calling, technical systems integration, and strict protocol governance from concept through on-site execution.
